Community benefits include:

  • Refurbishment of both the Scout and Guide HQ and St Marks community centre
  • Sponsorship of SMART breakfasts at St Marks
  • A learning support programme for Green Oak Primary School
  • Funding for community clear ups
  • Sponsorship of youth work
  • A programme of support for careers in construction for Ockford residents
  • Path improvements to the Social Club

Ockford Ridge

More than just building homes

Steve Tuhey, managing director of Thakeham Client, said:

This project is going to make a massive difference to the area. It’s about much more than the homes we are building. We are working with Waverley Borough Council and the local community through the school and community centre to ensure that our time at Ockford Ridge creates a legacy for generations to come.

The scheme at Ockford Ridge will include a total of six sites, being redeveloped in phases up until 2025.  The first sixteen new homes on Site D were completed last Summer. The site being built by Thakeham is part of Waverley’s multi million investment in its housing stock. The regeneration of the estate will also see the council refurbish council owned homes at Ockford Ridge, which are not included in a redevelopment site.

Waverley Borough Council Head of Housing Delivery and Communities, Andrew Smith said:

Through a combination of refurbishment and rebuilding, we are modernising the largely 1930s housing stock at Ockford Ridge to increase the number of houses and give our residents modern, high quality homes for the future. In Thakeham we have a partner who shares our values of community and quality and we look forward to seeing the results of their community investment programme.
