40 affordable homes in Ticehurst
Plans by Optivo Housing Association to build 40 affordable homes in Ticehurst, East Sussex have been passed by Rother District Council.
The £6.6 million development will be built on a greenfield site known locally as Banky Field, with work due to begin in June 2019 and completion in late 2020.
Affordable rent and shared ownership
Optivo appointed Sussex-based Thakeham Client last year to oversee the development.
Optivo are a locally based housing association, who purchased the land in 2018 and will provide a mix of 20 homes for affordable rent and 20 shared ownership homes. The properties will include 1,2,3 and 4 bedroom properties, a combination of houses and flats.
Steve Tuhey, Managing Director of Thakeham Client, said:
“We are very pleased to be working with Optivo on this project and look forward to delivering much-needed affordable housing in this part of Rother.”
Access to the development will be routed to the north of the site. The homes will be built using traditional materials in keeping with the area including a blend of tile, brick and timber boarded elevations.
With a focus on open space, the site will be low density, thanks to the availability of parking bays in preference to garages. Residents will have access to 65 parking bays which includes communal visitor parking.
The project will also benefit from a large open space to the north of the site that will accommodate an informal play area. This forms part of the ongoing consultation with Ticehurst Parish Council.
Neill Tickle, Land and New Business Director at Optivo said:
We’re really pleased to partner with Thakeham, they share our vision for affordable housing within communities that need it most. We’ve engaged and consulted with local residents at every stage and we’re excited to create high-quality, affordable homes for local people.
